If the source PDF has form fields, extracted pages retain the field definitions but lose cross-page calculations that reference pages outside the extracted range. Digital signatures on the source document do not carry through to the split output — the extracted pages are unsigned. A PDF where all pages share one large embedded image (common in scanned flat files) will produce split outputs with a disproportionately large file size for the first page, because the shared image resource is duplicated into each output.
