How it Works

How PDF Genius Pro keeps your files private

Every tool on this site runs directly in your web browser using the same computing power that loads websites and plays video. Nothing is sent to our servers.

The short version

When you use a tool on PDF Genius Pro, your browser downloads a small program (written in JavaScript) that processes your document on your own device. Think of it like a desktop app that loads in a browser tab — the file never leaves your computer or phone.

This is fundamentally different from how most online PDF tools work. Services like Adobe Acrobat online, Smallpdf, and iLovePDF upload your document to their servers for processing. PDF Genius Pro does not.

Step 1: You open a tool page

Choose from 30+ tools — merge, compress, convert, protect, and more. Each tool page loads the necessary processing code automatically. No sign-up required. No subscription needed.

Step 2: You select your files

Drag and drop your files onto the upload area, or click to browse. Your files are read by the browser but stay on your device — they are not uploaded anywhere at this point. Most tools accept multiple files at once.

Step 3: The browser processes your document

When you click the action button, the browser runs the processing entirely on your device. For a simple merge or compress, this takes a few seconds. For OCR or complex conversions, it may take 30–90 seconds depending on your device speed and file size.

During this step, you may see a message saying “Processing on your device”. This is accurate — your CPU is doing the work, not our servers. Stay on the tab until the download appears.

Step 4: Your file downloads automatically

Once processing is complete, your browser creates a download automatically. The processed file is saved to your usual downloads folder. The original and processed files remain only on your device — we never see them.

What we do and do not store

We do not storeyour documents, file names, or document contents. Once you close the tab, any temporary data in your browser's memory is cleared.

We do store basic, anonymous analytics (page views, tool usage counts) if you accept cookies. This helps us understand which tools are most useful. This data does not include any information about your documents.

Which browsers are supported?

All tools work in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge (recent versions). Some tools use advanced browser features — if you encounter an issue, updating your browser usually resolves it.

Is there a file size limit?

Because processing happens on your device, the practical limit is your device's available memory. Most tools work comfortably with files up to 50 MB. For very large files (100 MB+), a desktop computer with a modern browser will give the best results.
